Happy Holidays…and a big old MARRY CHRISTMAS to you all !
Just wanted to take a minute to bring you up to speed on the vacancy
position relative to the Vice President of Membership. We asked members
to contact the board if they had a serious desire to work to aid the association
in this area. The GMAA board was contacted by Mr. Eddy Smith regarding this
position. The board met with him in a very positive dialogue. He expressed his
enthusiasm and desire to help grow and improve our association. In a follow-up
session of the board members Eddy was unanimously chosen to fill the position,
effective January 1st. 2009. We will be installing him during the convention. He
is going to be looking for some of you to step up and volunteer ideas, suggestions
and maybe a little of your time. Be sure to congratulate Mr. Eddy Smith, one of
your new Vice Presidents.

Change in Executive Officers. Last year our membership elected Mr. Mike
Hildebrandt as one of our three Executive Directors. Shortly thereafter, his
employment situation changed and had an impact on his ability to navigate
across the Metroplex to attend meetings. The board conducted several
meetings without Mike being in attendance. As of October 18th., we received
his message that due to the logistics of his employment, he felt that he should
resign his position at this time. In the subsequent meeting of the board,
unanimous consent was given to appointing someone to complete this vacated
position. Who better to serve than the gentleman who had held that office since
the creation of the GMAA, Mr. Larry Mays. With convention just months away,
the board felt that it needed to fill this position as soon as possible and the
association By-Laws include that provision. When asked to step in and take up
the reins, Larry agreed enthusiastically. We will miss Mike but we know that
work and time constraints are vitally important. Thanks Mike for all your hard
work and effort. We appreciate your service to the GMAA.

Greetings everyone ! Don’t you just love the early Fall weather? It sure
Is a relief after a good hot Texas summer.

Final GMAA showcase for the year is just days away. We return to
Trinity Life Baptist Church in Garland, Tx , once again. We took our
showcases on the road this year, so this is the only event we have had at
TLBC. We know they miss us! Be there about 6:45 or so because we are
going to start at 7pm on the dot. We have a great lineup that evening. Our
good friend Mr. Eddy Smith will bless us with his vocalizations. The always
highly-motivated Armstrong Family will get us clapping and toe-tapping.
Last but not least, Spoken For will bring us more blessings. There might be
a surprise or two…you must be there! Showcases 2009…Very soon we will
announce our plans for next year. Once again, we might be shaking things up
and going a different route, but always for the better. Keep checking back for

A great concert. The GMAA had the pleasure of working with Mr. Mark George at
Cedar Heights Baptist Church to produce a concert using some of our GMAA talent. Of
One Accord, Friends By Grace and Southern Joy QT. did an awesome job. There was a
nice crowd on hand and they really enjoyed themselves. Vicky Brown worked so hard to
get the advertising flyers handed out. We appreciate her hard work.

If your church would like to work with us to promote a concert please contact Wayne Delk at 972-226-5902 and we’ll jump on it !!
